Dear Friend,
Mark your calendars for January 12th, 2008! The Limón Dance Company is planning a year-long party for the centenary of Limón’s birth, inviting friends from around the globe to offer choreographic tributes, and the 12th will be the big kick off with a Blow-out Birthday Gala!
This will also inaugurate Limón’s “Footprint to the Future” campaign, a new model of using new technologies to preserve our legacy, a Marketing Initiative to reach the next generation, and to revitalize our mission with live music returning as an integral part of the Company’s work on stage.
To continue our mission of preserving and presenting Limón’s legacy, and to plan and execute the Centenary Season, we have set a goal of $50,000 to be raised this fiscal year which ends June 30th, 2007, and we need to ask you and our other friends to make a financial contribution. To start the momentum, one of our Directors, Gordon Pennington, and The Francis Alexander Fund have contributed $20,000. In memory of his beloved uncle, Malcolm Whittier Pennington, who was a Limón board member and our chairman for more than 15 years, Gordon will donate an additional $10,000 which the Francis Alexander Foundation will match in a 1:1 challenge grant to bring in contributions from new donors. Thus the challenge grantors will match all contributions from new persons and entities up to $20,000. In addition, we will be holding our 60th Anniversary Gala on May 15th, with a performance at the new Baryshnikov Arts Center and dinner at the Time Warner building.
We hope you can help us meet the Challenge grant by making a donation. It’s true that $50,000 is a large number, but in this case every dollar counts! Thanks for your support.
Warmest regards,
