The Limón Institute has essentially
three different programs of study.
1.
Professional Studies Program - PSP 9 month
2. Intensive Studies Programs - ISP 12
weeks
3. Dance Training and Arts Management Studies Program
NOTE: International students who need a
student visa must attend the Limón-Peridance Visa Student program. This may be
done in conjunction with the Professional Studies Program. Otherwise
international students may attend the Fall or Spring Intensive Studies Program
for 90 days while on a tourist visa.
1. Professional Studies Program (PSP)
The nine- month program runs from September
11th - December 16th, 2011 and January 9th -
May 18th, 2012. It includes:
- 5 Limón technique classes per week, selected from Advanced and Intermediate
classes
- An introductory workshop presenting the underlying principles of Limón
technique
- Six to eight weeks of Intensive daily repertory workshops
- Workshops and Lectures on a range of historical, theoretical, and
supplementary subjects
- Individual coaching sessions with current and former company members

2. Intensive
Studies Programs (ISP)
The ISP is a twelve-week intensive
studies program September 11th - December 4th 2011, and February 28th - May 18th, 2012. This
program is designed for college dance majors who want the experience of a
semester in New York City, and for international students who may be travelling
on 90-day tourist visas. The program starts with a workshop that introduces principles
of Limón technique, and consists of daily technique classes, repertory
workshops, special theory and practice sessions, a performance opportunity, open
rehearsals, and tickets to company performances. Applicants should be at the
Advanced or Intermediate-Advanced level and have completed the equivalent of two
years of college dance training.
3. Dance Training
and Arts Management Studies Program
The Dance Training & Arts
Management Internship Program accepts up to three qualified students a year to
participate in rotating three-month internships in areas such as development,
administration, production, archives, budget and finance, under the mentorship
of the Limón Dance Company’s professional staff. In addition to 16 hours a
week of the internship, participants design individual programs of studio work.
Applicants should be college graduates with previous office experience and a
specific interest in dance management. Tuition for this highly competitive

Performance Opportunities:
The Institute presents two Professional Studies
Program Showings per year. Students have the opportunity to perform in both
Limón repertory works and original works by Institute faculty members. Additional performance opportunities are frequently scheduled during the
spring.

additional technique classes per month.
Complete an application form (click here) and submit it by mail, email or fax, to the address indicated on the form. Include dance résumé, a statement of your interest in the program, the $50.00 application fee, and a letter of recommendation from a dance professional. After we receive your application we will either contact you or schedule a New York audition, or send a DVD so you can audition by video, if distance is a problem.
Work-study Scholarship:
A limited number of work-scholarships are available for PSP students, which reduce only the Limón portion of the tuition by one quarter, in exchange for several hours a week of office work. If interested, request an application form.
