West Coast Faculty
Colin Connor's work prompted Jennifer Dunning, in The New York Times, to write that “It comes as something of a relief these days to see movement treated as a sufficiently expressive medium.” A soloist with the Limon Dance Company for eight years, he is the choreographer of over forty commissioned works, with work that has been seen across the Americas and Europe, at such venues as the Joyce Theater in New York, and The Holland Festival in Den Hague. Currently on faculty at the California Institute of the Arts, he has served on the faculties of The Juilliard School, NYU and City College of New York, and taught at international centers such as the London School of Contemporary Dance, the Rotterdamse Dansacademie, and Jacob’s Pillow. He will be doing a choreographic residency with the Limon Dance Company this spring.
Brenna Monroe-Cook performed with the Limon Dance Company from 2003-2007. She began her training at the Academy of Movement and Music under the direction of Stephanie Clemens and has performed extensively with the affiliated MOMENTA Performing Arts Company. She received her BFA from The Juilliard School under the direction of Benjamin Harkarvy.
Debra Noble has danced with some of the foremost American choreographers, performed nationally and internationally as a soloist, taught a broad range of dance techniques and related studies, choreographed widely, and directed her own company. She was a member of Los Angeles’ American Repertory Dance Company for five years, and has guest performed with the José Limón Dance Company. With Connor/Noble Dance Company she has performed across the United States and Central America. Their 2007 premiere of “News Falls Like Rain” was called by Dance Magazine and NPR Reviewer Bill Gayle as “Majestic and elegiac” and Noble in performance as “striking” and that she has…”clearly mastered less being more”.
Alan Terricciano has been professionally active as both a composer for choreography for the past 25 years, and as a pianist with a particular focus on choreographic collaboration. Mr. Terricciano has received numerous commissions and awards. In 2000, He won the Grand Prize in Quebec's Festival des Arts de Saint-Sauveur international competition. His collaborations with choreographers include works with Donald McKayle, Colin Connor, Jeff Slayton, Mark Haim, Douglas Becker, Loretta Livingston and Douglas Nielsen.
